I decided to strip and refinish my baby grand piano, and since I have never done this before, I used a red mohogany stain since it's mohogany under the black lacquer, and your clear wood finish. It looks fabulous now! I did not believe that a finish could be applied without sanding between coats - and I believe it now! It goes on easily and after 3 coats my piano looks gr8! I need to take more pics of it yet, and have 1 that shows it before I did the legs.
